Volunteers are the hub or our organization. Bikes for the World relies on a huge network of volunteers to help impact a great number of beneficiaries worldwide. Whether you need hours for school, work, or just want to volunteer check out the ways you can help:
Join us in the warehouse to help prep bikes for shipping overseas. No prior bike knowledge necessary; we will show you what you need to know! Come out and get familiar with basic bike parts and tools and help others overseas while you do.
Prepping bikes for shipping involves taking the pedals off and loosening handlebars and other parts that make the bikes taller or wider. By reducing the footprint of our bikes we are able to pack more into a shipping container, therefore increasing the value of the donation.
The warehouse is open 1-2 times a week.
Join us in the warehouse every week:
WHERE: 11720 Parklawn Dr Rockville MD 20852
TIME: 4pm -7pm
*Yes, this event is SSL pre-approved.

Bikes for the World packs about 500 bikes into a single shipping container when donating bikes to a partner overseas. Volunteers help load the bikes, pack parts, and prep bikes for shipments (see above)
We load containers 2-4 times a month and the jobs involved range from as simple as rolling a bike from the warehouse to the shipping container to actually lifting and packing the bikes into the trailer.
This activity is great for small groups or individuals. We also use groups from time to time on the weekends to help prepare the week before a loading. To schedule a group for a loading please contact us.
Sponsor your very own bike collection. You pick the location, date, and time and we supply the tools, training, and remove the bikes at the end of the day.
This is a fun activity for a group, school, or faith organization that involves community outreach and a fun, meaningful hands-on activity for volunteers. Work with Bikes for the World to find bikes in your community that will be donated around the world impacting lives in remote villages in Ghana, El Salvador, or schools in the Philippines.
For more information or to schedule a collection today contact us.
Occassionally we also need volunteers for other specialized tasks. If you are interested in learning more about the following activities please send an email to let us know what you are interested in and what days you are available to help.
